(3-15-08) We made it!

We've made it to Colorado!!! These are the adventures of the Schmidt-Woepking journey out to Colorado...

We started our journey out on Friday evening around 5:45 pm...late as usual. We made it to finally meet the Woepking family at Williamsburg around 6:30 pm. Of course since we were already at the Outlet Mall we NEEDED to stop to do some last minute shopping...at Nike and Areopostel' for the Shelbz. A couple of hundred dollars later...we ate at Subway...and we were off!

We drove...only stopping for gas twice...and potty breaks every couple of hours.
Thanks to my wonderful sister Erin...our kids had her laptop and our internet air card to keep them entertained along with their IPods for some good tunes.
We kept driving because we were on a roll, so some the kids caught some shut eye along the way...

We stopped at a Holiday Inn in Grand Island, Nebraska around 2am, and as we pulled in the Weopking's minivan started having issues...the power steering went out...a belt broke...and a lot of liquids started flowing out from under the van...all right as we had just litterally pulled into the parking lot of the Hotel.

The next morning James and Rob took the van to the mechanic a few miles down the road, then they came back and swam with the kids...(excluding the Shelbz, because she likes to take her time getting ready.)

...as we all finished getting ready to hit the road, "the Dad's" went to get the "fixed" van...and off we went... ...COLORADO bound!!! (James likes to huddle and yell a big cheer before we leave!)

Back in the car we went...
We stopped periodically for "stretching" (in the form of kickball) and restrooms...

...I proceeded to kick the ball on top of the restroom building...and then the best was when I kicked it into the tree...and it stuck......so everyone took their turn trying to knock it down...

...then it was photo op time before we hit the road again...
...Kaleb was "our" photographer...

...and we were off again...to James' Aunt Julia's house in Aurora, CO. She made us a wonderful supper and we had a very relaxing night with wonderful accomodations. Thank you so much Julia! You're definetly "the hostess with the mostess."That concludes the journey to Colorado...but there's more to come!

Thank God you all made it safely. It sounds like you had a fun trip. Looks like a nice bed in the middle of the floor. So nice Aunt Julia let you stay there and also fixed you a meal. Keep on having fun. Love you Mom
