It still was a lot of fun, and Noah made out pretty well in the "Birthday loot" department...
While sitting in the dark, I guess Dad just couldn't help himself... (how sweet)

We decided to call home to see if we had power or not. The answering machine didn't pick up, and I really needed to use a working restroom so we decided to head home to pack a bag. We had decided to spend the night at Mom's in Muscatine since the roads were so bad, and Shelby had to sing at Church in the morning. Church was even cancelled on Saturday night, among many other things all around us.
This was what our truck mirror looked like as we drove home on terrible roads, with terrible traffic, because they had shut down Interstate 80 because of down power lines. It was crazy! It took us 1 hour to drive about 15 miles, going about 30mph with all of the rerouted traffic...
Everyone is fine and safe, but the Bierman's are living with us for now until they regain their power. We returned home to find that we were only with out power for about an hour or so. Thank you Lord.

Thank you Lord. But please pray for the Bierman family as it's not the easiest thing to live out of a suitcase with 3 children, College, Chad's work, kids school, activities, and just not being stressed out because you can't stay at home. They are saying it may take a week to fix the power lines, so lets pray for safety and speed for these workers.

I know the feeling. We too are homeless this week. REC said it may be next week before we get power back. It's tough on everyone. We have went from my mom's to greg's mom's to my brother's and now we are back at my mom's. It is crazy trying to balance life and maintain some sense of normalcy while living out of suitcases and in someone else's home. Ugh....we'll pray for all of you!
