In the midst of track practices & meets, Shelby also decided she really wanted to try-out for the Dance/pom & kick team for the Wilton High School. They are called the "Steperettes." She had three 6:30 am practices to learn the routines, and the official try-outs were last night. Shelby was very excited because this is exactly what she loves to do...PERFORM.
The try-outs were from 6-8pm, and the judges were posting the '07-'08 Steperette team on the door at 8:30pm. We got there to get Shelby and found out that out of 15 girls they had only chosen 10 to be on the new squad. Shelby was one of those 10. She was very excited! (The Coaches told us last night that here in Wilton the Steperettes are the only team activity that you actually have to try-out for.)
They are already starting practices because they are performing at the Wilton "Smorgasboard" next Tuesday night already. The Steperettes compete in dance contests, perform at Basketball games, etc. We are new to this so I guess we're starting another new chapter in our lives called "having a High Schooler." (Scary!)
